The morning of your wedding sets the tone for everything that follows. After photographing hundreds of weddings in Michigan, I've seen what separates a chaotic morning from a calm, joyful one.
1. Start earlier than you think you need to. Add 30 minutes to every estimate.
2. Eat a real breakfast. Seriously. You'll be on your feet for 10+ hours.
3. Assign a "detail keeper." One bridesmaid is responsible for gathering rings, invitations, and shoes for detail photos.
4. Keep your phone face-down. Let your coordinator handle logistics. Your job is to be present.
5. Write a note to your partner. It'll mean everything to them — and to you, years from now.
6. Give yourself a quiet 10 minutes. Alone, before the chaos begins.
7. Trust your vendors. You hired them for a reason.
8. Have your florals ready for photos. Bouquets, boutonnieres, and any florals you want documented.
9. Wear a robe or button-up for getting ready photos. It's much easier than pulling a shirt over freshly done hair.
10. Remember what the day is actually about. It's not the flowers or the timeline — it's the person waiting for you at the end of the aisle.
